A couple of finds

Before going to see our new great niece my sister and I stopped off at Hobby Lobby.  I wasn't looking for anything in particular or anything at all for that matter I was just along for the ride, but this jumped out at me.  I was too pumped as it would go great in my laundry room.

When I went grocery shopping today I picked up a couple of plants to put on my front porch.  I never know what to put there.  I have a little bench that my mom gave me and I do put plants on it.  I guess that is what I will do again.  I found this real cool rooster basket at a re-sale shop so I just put it on the bench and it has sat there all by itself until now.  The plant in the middle is a mothers day gift from Pete and Becca.  The picture is not the greatest as I just watered the plants and you can see the grass and cobwebs all over.  But...from far away it looks real good :)

Tomorrow is going to be busy in the morning getting ready for the picnic.  I have decided to make Pasta Salad for my dish to pass.  I think everyone likes that.  Speaking of our new great niece who at the moment remains nameless as her parents can't decide on a name for her, is a cutie pie.

It's getting late and our "baby" needs to be put out to do her duty then it's off to bed with me cause morning comes pretty fast.

eta: If you noticed I took the music away, it keep messing up.  I am going to try and do it again though.

The birds are singing

It is so nice to have the windows open and hear the birds singing.  It's been so cool this spring that the windows haven't been open. 

Today is going to be another busy day.  Groceries need to be bought..there is absolutely nothing in this house.  Not even garbage bags.  I plan to go see a new great niece that was born yesterday and we have an open house wedding reception for a niece today.  Tomorrow is our Sunday School picnic.  So I have to figure out what I'm going to bring to that.  It seems like one minute life is dull and nothing is going on, then wham it gets busy again.

Enough of my boring chit-chat.  I'm off to start my day.

This Blog is busy today 3 posts this morning already

Last night we went for a very brisk walk down by the river.  We needed to get our hearts pumping and this morning I am feeling it in my muscles.

Again I took my camera but I almost left it home.  Every time we go to the river we see another new wildflower in bloom.

Today I slept in :(  I feel like I am really behind in my morning doings, so I'm going to just take it slow this morning.  I think I slept in because we walked in the early evening.

I lost my photo album for my walk across America.  It somehow messed up so I just deleted it.  I plan to organize it again, but I just haven't had the time to.

Nothing going on right now so I'll go and start my day.

An Award

I received this award yesterday from Nonizamboni over at Peacock Blue.  I am really tickled to receive this. I have "met" Nonizamboni just recently (tho Nonizamboni is not her real name) and found out that she is a BLACK HAWKS Fan.  How cool is that?  She has a wonderful way of writing and I enjoy going there to see what she has to say.

I am going to give this award to these lovely women who I visit most everyday.  They are my "fix" for the day.

Angie over at This is My "Real" Blog.  Angie once lived in my area and now lives in Tennessee my "favorite" State.  She has a beautiful family and I also enjoy her writings.  Angie is so full of life and happiness.

Maddy over at Maddy's Glass House. Maddy lives a full life trying to raise a child with Autism.  She has a wonderful way with words that when I stumbled upon her blog way back when and I keep going back for a visit.

I enjoy so many blogs that it was hard to pick because they all are excellent in my book and deserve this award.

Since I had "cleaned" out my room the other day I had no books around so I went upstairs and grabbed the first book I could find.  It was from the Little House Series.

Than at last he heard the horns blowing, far and near.  Clear and joyful came the sound of Mother's big tin dinner-horn.  Bess and Beauty pricked up their ears and stepped more briskly.

This is a favorite series that both Jim and I have read to our kids over the years.

Plants, Cards, Road Work and Doggie Pools

I can't wait until these babies are producing fruit.  These ones are German Tomatoes and they are out of this world.  I still haven't decided what else to plant.

Card Making 101 was fun last night.  I knew it would be.  We made 3 birthday cards.  My sister Donna and I were wishing that we had made Graduation cards.  Especially since it's that time of year.

Schools done for the next 3 months and Lauren is getting all ready to paint her bedroom.  She has wanted to do that for awhile and asked if she could do it when school got out.  Well...she didn't waist any time on that.  The paint is bought, the room is almost empty and she's all ready to roll.

We have been having work done on our ditches and roads in and around our neighborhood.  We're not sure exactly what they are doing.  It looks like they are recycling the old black top and re-using it.  It's kind of confusing but if you look closely, it looks like asphalt that was just put down, but it's not.  This is the old asphalt they just somehow reused it.  It makes it kind of tricky getting in and out of the neighborhood with all this work going on.

Over the weekend with the warm weather Sadie wasn't handling the heat that good.  So we got the kiddie pool that the grand kids use out of the barn and filled it up.  At first she didn't really know what to do with it so Jim got on his swim trunks and jumped in with her.  Now I have to get another one for the grand kids.

The sun is shinning and the sky is beautiful.  Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day.

Some Wednesday Chit-Chat

Today is finally starting to feel like it should.  Those Monday holidays really mess me up.

Tonight I am going to my Card Making 101 class.  I thought BC was ending last week so I signed up for the class a couple of weeks ago...Oops!

I am still having trouble with TypePad.  I can't add pictures to my Family Photo Album. It says I don't have any photo albums. I want to change a color on a word and it changes the whole sentence...sigh. AND I don't like the spell check.

Yesterday was golf for my DH.  As always it was cold, but he dresses for it.  Maybe one of these days it will be warm.

I am (this) close to having all my sewing room moved.  I know I have a lot of "stuff" but until you move it you don't realize just how much.

It's nice to open my dressers and not have them so stuffed full. It feels good to get rid of a lot of my clothes that I don't wear anymore.  Now the problem is I need to go shopping and I don't like to shop.  I only go when I have to.  Which is now I guess cause I don't have anything to wear.

Today is Lauren's last day of school. Yeah!!!! One year of High School under her belt. :)  The next 3 will go by really fast for her.  Then it really will be just Jim and I then.  Not that it isn't already.  It's nice when we can get an occasional night out with her.  But who would you choose to spend your evening with if you were in High School, your parents or your sister and friends?  Hmm..that's a tough one. (LOL)

ABC Wednesday~Sauna

 

ABC Wednesday over at Mrs Nesbitt's Place.

The letter this week is S.

Sauna is my S word. 

Being of the Finnish decent one has to have a Sauna in their home.  There is nothing better than taking Sauna on a cold winter night to take the chill out of your bones.

The word Sauna is a lot of times mispronounced.  It is pronounced actually like "sow-na".  Our youngest son when he was a senior in High School was in Building Trades at school and built us a Sauna in our basement.  This Sauna is used everyday and sometimes many times a day.

 

Here are a few different views of the changing room.  I didn't get a picture of the shower area which is just to the left of the window in the photo below.

If you get a bunch of boys around, they'll usually have a contest as to who can handle the most steam.  The temp in the steam room can get pretty hot. 

After Sauna there's always water, juice and a good snack to finish it off.

I hope you enjoyed my S word for ABC Wednesday, and if you're ever in our area we'll turn the Sauna on for you.

Beautiful Weekend

 

Our weekend was great.  I hope yours was too.  We accomplished a lot of things on our to do list.  We had a quiet holiday not doing much of anything as far as celebration.  We planted some tomato plants that we got from a gentleman at Church.  I think that tomatoes are the only thing I'm going to plant this year.  I have to dig up the rest of the garden if I want anything else.  I'm kind of slow about thinking of putting in a garden this year.  I planned it out on paper but I'm not sure what I want in it.  The weather has been up and down though.  The weekend was gorgeous and today is freezing out.

We walked on Sunday morning.  I think Sadie misses our walks during the week so we are planning to walk everyday through the neighborhood in the morning.

Every time we go down to the river there are new plants that are bloomed.

It's Monday and after a busy weekend we always tend to get a slow start.  Of course today is no exception.  Picture this, a mom in her robe, slippers and hair that could be classified as BAD Hair Day running out the front door whistling for the School Bus as it's going by.  Yep, that was me this morning.  I can still whistle, I thought I lost it.  I haven't done it in a while.

eta: Who out there thinks it's Monday today?  I am totally confused.  But that's okay I always am.

Enough chit-chat, I am off to go for our walk.
